Hello PSOD Families!
We completed our final day of Boot Camp today and look forward to PA Assessment Week next week, August 15-19, at PLC! We have organized the schedule to get everyone dancing, learning combinations and having a few days to be assessed on the combinations. Those in Levels 5-8 will have an extra challenge to prepare and perform a short solo on Friday, August 19th. Dancers auditioning in Levels 5-8 will receive an additional email with information regarding Friday’s solos.
Within each auditioning section, dancers will be organized into two groups as we rotate between genres. This will allow us to fully see each dancer and deliver individual written feedback on their assessment forms they’ll receive with their placements. We can’t wait to see our dancers execute the ballet, jazz and tap combinations in smaller groups before a panel of PSOD Teachers! Together, we can celebrate their hard work over the week and the past years of their training! Please view the schedule for next week below.

* Dancers in 2021-2022 PA Levels 3-8 who are wanting to be considered for placement into the 2022-2023 PA Ensembles & PA Companies should complete this short form prior to Monday’s assessment. Please read through the form and select all that you would like to be considered for during the PA Assessment so our PSOD Staff can make educated placements and consider those interested.

Monday (8/15)- please arrive 15 minutes early to get your picture taken + number for the week!
VIDEOS of COMBOS
We will be sending out videos of choreography every day by 8:00pm. Dancers are welcome to take videos on their devices at the end of each class for their own reference.
DRESS CODE
Please arrive to PA Assessment in your ballet attire; black leotard, pink tights, and hair in a bun. Dancers can wear black leggings or black dance shorts when appropriate during their jazz and tap assessments. Make sure to check your dance bag and pack your shoes (ballet, jazz & tap), a full water bottle and a small snack. We encourage dancers to wear their warmups to and from the studio. Dancers will receive a short break between audition sections.
PA WARM UPS
We have been busy prepping our PA Warm Ups for the upcoming 2022-2023 dance year. If you are currently in the PA Program, please take a look at your current PA set (Jacket, Pants, and Tank) and see if you may need any new pieces for the upcoming year. All current PA dancers and those that are looking to audition during PA Assessment week, August 15-19, will have an opportunity to try on our sample sizes of the PA Warm Up set on Thursday and Friday, August 18th & 19th, from 9:00-6:00pm at PLC. Attached is the PA Warm Up Order Form for you to reference. The deadline to order PA Warm Ups this year is Wednesday, September 7th. After this date, we will not be able to add to the order.
COSTUME MEASUREMENT
Please prepare your dancer to be measured for their PA Christmas and Spring costumes during PA Assessment Week. We will remeasure dancers in October to confirm sizing but this information is helpful when preparing our orders as we plan to order even earlier this year for best availability.
UPDATE ON COVID
With the recent rise of COVID cases please continue to monitor yourself/your dancer before coming to assessment. If your dancer is not feeling well please keep them home and contact the PSOD Dance Office (952-829-9436 | info@prairieschoolofdance.com). We recommend families follow the CDC for guidance on when to stay home.
PLACEMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
Announcements of dancer placement will be sent out via email on Tuesday, August 23rd by 5pm. PA Pointe & Ballet Technique, PA Ensembles, and PA Small Group placements will also be sent out this day, too. Families will receive an informational packet with their PA Assessment form and information for the dance year (PA Contract, PA Pricing, PA Calendar, etc) that week in the mail. If you have questions, please note that we request 24 hours before you call or email once placement has been released.
REGISTRATION FOR PA 2022-2023 DANCE YEAR
Registration for the PA 2022-2023 classes opens Tuesday, August 23rd. The deadline to accept your placement in the PA Program is Tuesday, August 30th by 5pm. All newly accepted dancers are encouraged to attend the New to PA Meeting on Thursday, August 25th, from 7-8pm at PLC.
CHRISTMAS SHOW "NOEL"
We are excited to have our Performing Arts Christmas Show returning this December 3rd 2022 @ Grace Church Auditorium! Do you like to sing!? Dancers learned this year’s dance year kick off party dance by our Class of 2023 PA seniors! Please join us on Wednesday, September 7th, from 4:30-6:30pm at PLC to celebrate the new dance year!
