Dance Educator

Receptionist

Prairie School of Dance is seeking individuals with a welcoming presence that represent our brand – quality instruction in a wholesome environment.  Receptionists greet dancers, take attendance, and sell merchandise, among other duties.

Dance Assistant

The Prairie School of Dance Assistant Program is designed to provide students at the Level 4 and up an opportunity to learn about becoming a dance teacher and to be a role model for younger students. To be eligible for the Student Assistant Program, students must:

  1. Be in Level 4 or above & 7th grade or older

  2. Be enrolled in and attend a minimum of 4 classes per week

  3. Be responsible and understand that they are committing to a specific number of hours of assisting each week and are expected to fulfill those hours and all conditions of participation.

  4. Follow all rules of Prairie School of Dance, the PA Contract as well as set a positive example at all times

Student Assistants will be rewarded with the opportunity to perform in the Teacher/Assistant Dance in the Spring Recital. In addition, there will be monetary compensation for your time and leadership. Some students choose to not be paid and use their hours for volunteer hours.

Assistant Applications open in June and close in July.

Student Teacher Trainee

PSOD's Student Teacher Training Program is an extension to the current Assistant Program, but further focusing on co-teaching within the classroom, lesson planning, choreographic education as well as lead teaching opportunities throughout the year and summer programming. This program is eligible for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors for the 2022-2023 dance year. Assistants accepted into this program must have at least one year of PSOD Assisting experience.

This is a paid position and requires a confirmed commitment from successful applicants. A Student Teacher is expected to be reliable and willing to work with the dance instructor and students, attend training sessions, attend all events and performances, and to act as a role model for all dancers in behavior and dress code.
