PA Rehearsal Party | Friday, February 3rd @ PLC

This is a big night for our PA dancers as we reveal our 2022-2023 season dances for the first time! Dancers will arrive at PLC in their ballet class attire (black leotard, pink tights, hair in a bun) with the PA Warm Ups (PA tank, PA Joggers & PA jacket) along with all of their shoes and a water bottle this day. Dancers will participate in a small warm up before learning our PA Showcase finale & bows and sharing dances! Stay tuned for a more specific schedule for the evening but plan for 6:30-9:00pm. (PA Minis and PA Level 1 will have an earlier release.)

PA Assessment Challenge | Saturday, January 21st @ PLC

Our PA Assessment Challenge returns on Saturday, January 21st at PLC! Stay tuned for your PA Level's specific time, between 2-7pm. This is a mid-year check-in point on dancer progress. Dancers will come in ballet attire and be led through ballet, jazz, and tap steps and share their leaps, turns, flexibility and more in front of their peers and PSOD Staff! Saturday Ballet Technique and Pointe will meet as regularly scheduled at both locations this day, Saturday, January 21st. Dancers will receive their attendance update as well as written and verbal feedback from our PSOD staff to help continue growth and progress for the second semester of our dance year! Please wear your PSOD performance tank, jacket, and black leggings over a black ballet leotard and pink tights. Please have hair in a neat bun, bring your dance shoes and a water bottle. Dancers will be receiving their performance tights that they will wear for our PA Spotlight and Showcase performances.

Tentative PA Community Service Event

PSOD is planning our PA Community Service Event on Saturday, March 11th. It is our intention and goal to provide another performance opportunity for our dancers and give back to those in our EP community. More information will be distributed in the new year.

PA Attendance & Make Ups (as previously seen in your PA Contract)

Attendance is important for your technical strength, your ability to learn and maintain choreography, and for building your class community and may be viewed on your Jackrabbit Parent Portal. We value family, school, church and other activities that cultivate you as a whole person. You have chosen to be a part of this program and may have to make some decisions and sacrifices in regard to your other commitments.

Consistent attendance is mandatory for Performing Arts students. This is required as you are an athlete that needs consistent training.

  •  If you are going to be absent, please notify Prairie School of Dance via email (info@prairieschoolofdance.com) or phone (952-829-9436) before your class time.

  • If you've missed class, proactively meet with a fellow classmate, or use technology to learn choreography by your next class. All missed choreography should be learned prior to attending class. Make up classes should be completed within 2 weeks of your original absence.

  • Each dancer is allowed two free absences for core/required classes that involve choreography (ballet, jazz, tap, sacred, pointe & ensembles) that are not required to be made up.

  • Technique classes (PBT, Power Up, PA Jazz Tech, Pre-Pointe, etc) are allowed three free absences that are not required to be made up.

  • You may make-up by attending PBT, Power Up, Ballet or Jazz technique class, Wednesday Workshops (Registration for an additional charge), or one PA Level lower or higher level Ballet/Jazz/Tap/Sacred class. Please notify the Dance Office if you plan to attend a class to schedule your make-up in our system. Dancers may also write a 2-page written report on a historical dance figure or schedule a 1-hr paid private lesson to count towards 2 make up classes.

  • No more than 1 excused absence from Company rehearsals (Advanced notification of absences is mandatory on first day of rehearsal.)

Dancers will be receiving an attendance update after the PA Assessment Challenge in January.

PSOD Lost & Found Donation

December is the season of giving and PSOD is excited to collect donations toward PROP at our REC Christmas Shows 'Feels Like Christmas' on Saturday, December 17th.

Additionally, at the end of the 2022 year PSOD will be donating all items left behind in our studio's Lost & Found. Please take a moment to go through your dancers' bags/check the lost & found bins to collect any missing items. Also, we seemed to have experienced some mixing of PA Warm Up items in the dressing room during our PA Christmas Show last weekend. Please check your PA Warm Up items to ensure you have your items and to put your names in tags to avoid mix ups at our future events.

I know this is a busy time of year, but we love spending it dancing with you! Please let me know if you have any questions. Let's finish 2022 strong and begin getting excited for all that is to come in 2023!

Thank You and Best,

Hannah Albers & PSOD Staff
