Our dancers performed beautifully on Saturday, March 7th @ Eden Prairie High School’s Auditorium.
Here are a few highlights!
We are proud of our dancers and are looking forward to Recital 2015!
Dancers, teachers, and parents gathered together this past Friday evening to reflect upon the powerful message of Psalm 139. God’s promise that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by him allows us to embrace our uniqueness and live in his identity. We are his daughters and his sons. We were made with sincere intention, purpose, and love. We have messy homes and messy hearts until Jesus comes into them. We have insecurities about our academic struggles, our acne, our body shape, our lack of friends, and our athletic failures. In these times of feeling like we are not enough, God reminds us that we are PERFECT AS WE ARE. He loves us unconditionally. We don’t need to earn his love. We received it the moment he laid his life upon that cross.
Whether we are teenagers or adults, God can use our challenges, disappointments, and insecurities to bring us closer in relationship to him. He wants to hear it all. He wants to be in conversation with you!
We live in a world full of advertisements, promotions, posts, and tweets telling us who we should be and who we are. We are surrounded by lies and pressures and are unable to be all that everyone is expecting of us. There are so many voices and so many people to please. The truth is that there is just one voice that we need to listen to. We need to listen to our Creator. We encourage you to be in conversation with God. Get familiar with his voice so that it is the LOUDEST among the crowd. TRUST him and his plan for your life. Do not apologize for your insecurities. Embrace them and allow God to use them. We are fearfully and wonderfully made and we praise God for that!
PSOD was grateful for the opportunity to “give back” to the community on Saturday, March 9th by performing for the residents of Summit Place Senior Campus in Eden Prairie. Nearly 50 Performing Arts students performed “a full recital” including ballet, jazz, tap and Sacred dance for the grateful audience. Miss Sarah (Steichen) and Miss Jenna (Ely) were on hand to help make the performance run smoothly.
Students had the opportunity to visit and mingle with residents during a cookie reception following the performance. The whole area was a buzz with excitement and energy; we were very proud of “our girls” as they demonstrated great maturity and grace when interacting with the residents. Many residents commented on how they loved the tap numbers and wish they could have “heard the taps”; the girls performed their routines on carpet so the fabulous tap-effect was lost but their routines still looked great!
We invited residents to attend PSOD’s next major performance: “Psalm 139: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made by God” at Grace Church, Eden Prairie, on Saturday, April 13th at 7pm. We hope to arrange for transportation so interested residents can attend this special production just minutes away!
Enjoy some special memories from our annual visit to Summit Place!
Last Saturday we had the privilege of dancing for the local residents at Summit Place in Eden Prairie, MN. Our dancers took the ballet, jazz, tap, sacred and hip hop dances from the recent Performing Arts Showcase program and performed them on site at Summit Place.
We love that our dancers can serve others by bringing joy and entertainment, as they express their hearts and passion through dance. We are mindful of the scripture:
“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men.” Ephesians 6:7
