Our dancers performed beautifully on Saturday, March 7th @ Eden Prairie High School’s Auditorium.
Here are a few highlights!
We are proud of our dancers and are looking forward to Recital 2015!
This past weekend we had over 60 students and 7 teachers perform in our Psalm 139: Fearfully & Wonderfully Made by God production at Grace Church. Over a 1,000 people came to sit in the audience. The message of the show, just like God’s love, continues to ripple on. Here are a few images and words capturing the honesty, beauty, and power of the 139th Psalm.
Congratulations dancers! May you always remember YOU HAVE VALUE and continue to see others with value as well.
“You out did yourselves with the Psalm 139 production last night. My five-year old was totally tuned in and wanted to know what was happening every second. Today she has been practicing dancing like “the big girls dance.” So many delightful messages about God’s truth for girls, the show blessed us both so much. Thank you for taking this project on.”

We are so blessed to have her teaching Sacred and Ballet classes here at Prairie School of Dance. Just read on to learn more about her amazing heart and talent.
Although Prairie School of Dance is not a “competition school”, Director Sarah Quie has always valued the experience of students learning and growing by performing for each other. She wanted her students to have insight into what other schools are teaching as well as the opportunity to learn from Master Teachers in the industry. Mrs. Quie’s dream took shape two years ago and Cathedral Dance Festival was born!
The festival is an exciting day bringing local and national dance schools together to celebrate and share dance with each other. The festival includes master classes, seminars, adjudication, a gala concert and the opportunity to meet new friends! Prairie School of Dance is excited to have over 60 dancers participating this year.
The culmination of the all-day festival is the Gala Concert, and this year the line-up is incredible! Here is a sneak peak at some of the local companies and artists that will be featured:
Eclectic Edge Ensemble
EEE is a contemporary jazz dance company with a diverse repertoire. Eclectic Edge Ensemble collaborates with local musicians, choreographers, and other artists to create musically and theatrically inspired work. The company aims to present a fresh perspective on jazz dance in the Twin Cities, creating accessible performance experiences that connect to audiences through the pure joy of movement.
When crash.dance.productions. was founded in 2007, it was one of the first contemporary dance companies based in the Twin Cities. In this unique dance collective, company members manage, choreograph and perform in all CDP shows. Since 2008, crash.dance.productions. has produced four fully staged performances, with the fifth entitled ENTWINED premiering to sold-out audiences September 2013 at The Southern Theater in Minneapolis.
Jeremy is a classically-trained dancer with a rich performing history including principle roles in some of Minnesota’s premiere dance companies. His specialty in tap dance has led him to perform/choreograph in dance theater and musical theater.
This contemporary, modern dance company was originally based in Austin, Texas and is now dancing in Minneapolis. “We are very excited to be a part of such a vibrant and diverse arts community. Our mission is to make the art of dance more accessible to the community. We intend to do this by finding new ways to look at our world, reflecting modern life through the art of movement. In the spirit of integrating new ideas into everyday life, we strive to relate to and inspire our audience on an emotional, intellectual and spiritual level. We want you to experience dance that moves you.”
It is truly an honor to have all these performers take the stage in one night! Please invite your friends to this fabulous show; it couldn’t get much closer to home!

One of our favorite traditions at Prairie School of Dance is our annual Christmas show and this year we had two (both Rec and Performing Arts dancers had their own shows!) Two times the fun, two times the dancers, two times the guests in attendance and two times the JOY shared this wondrous Christmas season. Our theme was “JOY!” and earlier this month, we asked our dancers, “What brings you joy?” We were thrilled with their thoughtful responses and Program Director Sarah Steichen created a beautiful montage to capture it all (that video will be uploaded to Facebook yet this week).
Dancers of all ages auditioned to take part in Mrs. Quie’s “Special Parts”, learning Christmas songs to lead and Scripture to share during the Recreational Show. Their rendition of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” was a crowd favorite!
Our fabulous Rec dancers took the stage with a wide range of festive music and costumes.
Backstage, dancers were sharing Christmas spirit!
Our Performing Arts show featured Hip Hop and Musical Theater companies, both new this year.
All six levels of Performing Arts as well as Pre-Performing Arts dancers performed a variety of Sacred, Jazz and Ballet.
Prairie School of Dance was OVERJOYED by the generosity of our families, we collected $1,081 to donate to PROP (People Reaching Out to Other People), a local organization which serves families in financial transition.
We hope you enjoyed these photo highlights we captured Saturday… we are so grateful for each and every one of our beautiful dancers and their families!
Merry Christmas from Director, Sarah Linner Quie and the entire PSOD Teaching Staff!
