Last Saturday, April 13th, PSOD dancers from the Performing Arts division were especially busy; they attended the first annual Cathedral Dance Festival. It was an exciting all-day event at Grace Church (Eden Prairie) bringing non-competition dance schools together to celebrate and share dance with one another.
The festival included master classes taught by professional dancers as well as seminars on nutrition, dance careers, injury prevention and wellness. Participants also had the opportunity to be adjudicated (critiqued by professionals). The jam-packed day culminated in a gala concert, “Psalm 139”, performed by roughly 50 PSOD dancers and several instructors. Festival participants were invited to stay and enjoy “Psalm 139” and it was open to the public as well.
Cathedral Dance Festival Coordinators, Marit Green and Katie Balfanz both agreed, “The event was a huge success; we’re already excited to work on making next year’s festival bigger and better!” Seven different dance schools participated this year and Green hopes the numbers will increase annually as word travels around the state and beyond in dance communities.
