Tis the season to be jolly and to entertain! We wanted to be sure you had this winner in your repertoire – as it is a staple in Mrs. Quie’s house. And we’ve included her insights from years of serving it!
1 quart hot tea ( I use Lipton regular tea bags )
1 quart cranberry juice
1 quart apple juice (or use 64 oz. CRANAPPLE, pre-mixed!)
3 pieces cinnamon stick
12 whole cloves ( i place these in a tea infuser or mesh basket)
sugar to taste ( about 1/3 cup up to a full 1 cup …all in your taste )
1 6 oz orange juice concentrate
( 1 cup water if needed )
3/4 cup lemon juice
Heat but do not boil and float 1 orange slice and 1 lemon slice on top.
You can triple the recipe for an easy, large quantity punch. Make in a large 50 cup coffee urn.
Mrs. Quie says: “This punch fills your your house with wonderful christmas aromas of clove , orange and cinnamon – and both children and adults love it! Just watch out if your kids magically have a lot of energy, as the tea does have caffeine. My teenagers like it when they are studying as it helps them stay awake… and my grown kids like it when they come home for Christmas as it helps them wake up. And all our guests like it because it tastes so good! You can always substitute decaf tea but I somehow like the caffeinated because that is what i had as a child. This tea is also very healthy (just cut back on the sugar) and full of vitamin C.”
“Happy Christmas and holiday memory making to all of you!”
