Pre-Performing Arts classes include Ballet, Jazz and Tap and are either 60 or 75 minutes in length. These classes are geared toward students potentially interested in joining the Performing Arts program (and a minimum of one year of dance is required to enroll.) This program offers multiple performance opportunities including: one dance in the Performing Arts Spring Showcase at EPHS and two dances in the Spring Recital at EPHS.
The Apprentice Program was created to supplement the existing Pre-Performing Arts program. Apprentice classes are open to students who auditioned for Performing Arts but were not accepted into the program. Teachers see potential in the students invited to join the Apprenticeship and want to see them continue to improve their skills (not all dancers are accepted into this program.) It serves as a more rigorous training program to get them ready for Performing Arts. These dancers are invited to take two technique classes, Ballet and a Jazz/Tap class, to improve their dancing. There will be two check-ins during the year (November and April) to discuss dancers’ progress and areas needing improvement. Assessments will check-in on students’ technique, effort, improvement, attitude, attendance, timeliness, dress code, and overall ability. These dancers will take a Pre-Performing Arts class of their choice in addition to these invitation-only classes.
